Official EC Unemployment Rate Declines By 2.4%

The Eastern Cape's unemployment rate fell from 47.4% in 2021Q3 to 45% in 2021Q4. According to Statistics South Africa data, the province recorded the highest unemployment decrease in the country with -2.4%. The highest increases in unemployment in 2021Q4 were recorded in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and the Western Cape. Even with the decrease in unemployment, the Eastern Cape remains the only province with the highest unemployment rate in the country.
